[Intro] A whisper breaks the silence A fracture in the crown The weight of every shadow Comes crashing down [Verse 1] You built your walls on broken bones Turned every truth to dust and stone But I can hear the echo still A voice you thought you’d always kill [Pre-Chorus] I feel it burning underneath A fire rising through the grief [Chorus] I won’t bow, I won’t break You took it all but I remain From the ashes, I reclaim Every scar, every name I won’t fall into your flame I am the storm you couldn’t tame [Verse 2] Every lie carved into me Every chain you couldn’t see But the silence gave me sight Now I rise into the fight [Pre-Chorus] Feel the thunder in my veins Washing out the endless pain [Chorus] I won’t bow, I won’t break You took it all but I remain From the ashes, I reclaim Every scar, every name I won’t fall into your flame I am the storm you couldn’t tame [Bridge] Let the darkness call my name Let it try to pull me under I will rise through every flame I will answer back with thunder [Instrumental] [Final Chorus] I won’t bow, I won’t break You took it all but I remain From the ashes, I reclaim Every scar, every name I won’t fall into your flame I am the storm you couldn’t tame [Outro] The silence breaks… I rise again
Process, tools, and the story behind the release.
This song was inspired by my extrication from a bad relationship. It surprised me at first that the voice those feelings took on was feminine, but it made a bit more sense once I thought about it. Once it was written and came time to actually put it together, it was apparent that it had to be done as Scarlett Fever.
